The Tourist Trophy at the Isle of Man is among the most dangerous races in the world. Sixty kilometres. Two hundred and sixty-four corners. Roads lined with stone walls, houses, telegraph poles. The margin for error has always been zero.
We chose to render it not as photography but as illustration: a hand-drawn image in the tradition of classical engraving, entirely in black and white, every detail a declaration of respect for the riders who choose every year to line up at the start. The island becomes legendary terrain. The dangers – real ones -merge with the imaginary. A map that is also a tribute.
