Before the Ghosts arrived, what did the game world look like?
We decided to find out. “A World With No Heroes” is the first documentary ever made on a virtual world, produced entirely from in-game footage.
For three months, we explored every area of Ghost Recon Wildlands’ map as journalists, not players. We documented the lives and rituals of the everyday people of this virtual Bolivia. We witnessed the rampage of the cartel. We captured more than 8 hours of exclusive in-game footage, then placed 50 different cameras on an exact recreation of the actual game map, rendered in WebGL.
On this map, gamers could explore different environments, day and night, with touches of life added across the terrain: animals, traffic, trains, planes, data-visualisation.
Average time spent: 10 minutes. 30% spent more than 25 minutes.
Over 6.8 million players in the Ghost Recon Open Beta, the most successful in Ubisoft history.
