Hitchcock said: “The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture.” Far Cry 5 needed its villain to be unforgettable. We wanted to show Joseph Seed doing something unspeakably horrifying while retaining his total control over everyone around him.
Directed by Martin de Thurah, shot by cinematographer Khalid Mohtaseb: a film that builds with the slow, oppressive certainty of a scripture being read. Joseph’s followers do not flinch. That stillness is the most disturbing thing in the frame.
