A red balloon with a cat’s face slips from a child’s hands. It rises above the Paris rooftops. A weather vane nearly bursts it. Birds carry it higher. It passes yetis. It exits the atmosphere. It drifts through space and finds, somewhere far out beyond our solar system, the lost colony of every balloon that ever escaped a child’s hand. The film ends with the little girl watching it go, imagining all of this at once.
TiJi was a preschool channel for children aged 3 to 6. Rather than describe their proposition, we demonstrated it: this is exactly what a child’s mind does with a simple everyday loss. The film runs two minutes and earns every second. Directed by Yoann Lemoine via Wanda Productions.
